Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will receive a warm welcome and be escorted to the luxurious Kilimanjaro Wonders Hotel or a hotel of similar status. DAY 1: LEMOSHO GATE – MTI MKUBWA CAMP: 4.8KM /3MI | 3-4 HRS | RAINFOREST

We will start from Moshi town and travel to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate which is a picturesque 3 hour drive unveiling charming mountainside villages as you journey towards the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. At the gate, we will sign up, prepare, and begin the hiking program. We will delight in the lush rainforest vistas and meandering pathways as our knowledgeable guide shares insights on the indigenous flora, fauna, and wildlife to Mti Mkubwa Camp. Dinner and overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp.
DAY 2: MTI MKUBWA CAMP – SHIRA I CAMP: 7.9KM/5MI | 4-6HRS | MOORLAND

After breakfast, we will leave the verdant embrace of the rainforest. Ascending along a steady path, and bid farewell to the lush canopy as the landscape transforms, offering panoramic vistas as we ascend towards the rim of the vast Shira Plateau. With each step, the temperatures gradually reduce, signaling the transition to higher altitudes and unveiling a new, awe-inspiring terrain waiting to be explored. Dinner and overnight at Shira 1 Camp.
DAY 3: SHIRA I CAMP –SHIRA HUT: 6.9KM/4.3MI | 5-7HRS | MOORLAND

After breakfast, we will delve into the expanse of the Shira Plateau, and embark on a full day of exploration. Our journey unfolds with a serene stroll towards the glaciated summit of Kibo to the east, traversing the plateau’s undulating terrain until we reach the Shira 2 camp. This camp is nestled amidst moorland meadows and caressed by a babbling stream. Continuing our trek, we proceed to the lesser-traveled Moir Hut, strategically positioned at the foothills of the Lent Hills. This tranquil haven offers a range of walking options atop Lent Hills, presenting an exceptional opportunity for acclimatization amidst the serene wilderness—dinner and overnight at Shira hut.
DAY 4: SHIRA HUT – LAVA TOWER – BARRANCO CAMP: 10.1KM/6.3MI | 4-6HRS | SEMI DESERT

Our path ascends eastward along a ridge, veering past the intersection leading to the Kibo peak before turning southeast towards the formidable Lava Tower, appropriately named the “Shark’s Tooth” at an impressive altitude of 4650m/15,250ft. Progressing beyond the tower, we encounter a second junction directing towards the Arrow Glacier path. Descending thereafter, we reach the tranquil Barranco Camp, where we will rest for the night.
DAY 5: BARRANCO CAMP – KARANGA CAMP: 5.2KM/3MI | 4-5HRS | ALPINE DESERT

Following a hearty breakfast, our journey progresses with a challenging ascent up the steep ridge leading to the exhilarating Barranco Wall. Offering a thrilling adventure, the climb showcases the remarkable power, agility, and strength of your dedicated crew as they navigate the rocky terrain with impressive ease. Continuing onwards, we make our way to the picturesque Karanga Valley, reaching the junction that intersects with the Mweka Trail. This dynamic day provides a remarkable opportunity to witness not only the breathtaking landscapes but also the incredible competence and teamwork of your crew. Set against the backdrop of this rugged terrain, we conclude the day’s trek at the peaceful Karanga Camp.
DAY 6: HIKE KARANGA CAMP – BARAFU CAMP: 3.3KM /2 MI | 4-5HRS | ALPINE DESERT

As we progress towards our next destination, Barafu Camp, you have now successfully traversed the South Circuit, treating yourself to a plethora of magnificent vistas of the summit from various vantage points. Arriving at Barafu Camp, you will have a sense of accomplishment as you prepare to tackle the final ascent to the summit. Embracing an early dinner and a well-deserved rest, we eagerly anticipate the challenge of summit night. The air is filled with anticipation and determination as we set the stage for the ultimate push towards Uhuru Peak.
DAY 7: BARAFU CAMP – SUMMIT: 4.86KM /3MI UP | 5-7HRS | – MWEKA CAMP: 13KM /8MI DOWN | 5-6HRS | GLACIERS, SNOW CAPPED SUMMIT

The excitement is palpable as the new day dawns, signaling the beginning of the final ascent. With an early start scheduled between midnight and 2 a.m., the group prepares to embark on what is undoubtedly the most mentally and physically demanding stretch of the entire trek. It’s a test of endurance, willpower, and determination as you push yourself to reach new heights and conquer the formidable challenge that lies ahead. Cutting through rocky, scree, and sandy terrain, we will briefly rest at Stella Point and proceed through icy covered trail to Uhuru Peak. Take a moment to savor this extraordinary achievement and the breathtaking views that surround you at this iconic summit. We will celebrate, take photos, and perhaps shed a few tears of joy. The journey continues with a steep descent towards Mweka Camp, with a brief stop at Barafu for lunch and a momentary respite. It is advisable to utilize gaiters and trekking poles to navigate the challenging terrain composed of loose gravel and volcanic ash. As night falls, savor a well-deserved rest at Mweka Camp, where you can relish in the satisfaction of your achievements and enjoy your final evening on the mountain.
DAY 8: MWEKA CAMP – MWEKA GATE – MOSHI: 9.1KM/6MI |3-4HRS | RAINFOREST

After breakfast we will celebrate with songs and dancing, shaking hands and say goodbyes. Guides, cooks and porters are also tipped here. The descent continues towards the Mweka Park Gate, where you will receive your well-deserved summit certificates. A vehicle will be waiting for you at Mweka Village to transport you back to your hotel in Moshi, approximately a 30-minute drive away.
